John and Nancy were the perfect hosts. Our experience would not have been as special without them. Our advice to anyone considering St. John: Do it and if you want a lovely, intimate, convenient place to stay, stay with John and Nancy. Other advice: St. John is a fun place. Lots of beautiful beaches, hiking, restaurants, live music, great snorkling. All things considered, St. John was also an excellent value. Garden By The Sea is the best location on the island. It is a short walk or invigorating hike to town depending on which way you go. It seemed like we were on our own little island and in the heart of Cruz Bay at the same time. For the most flexibility definitely rent a car. This will also end up saving money, too. From snorkling to snow shoveling was a tough adjustment. The house is beautiful and the rooms were spotless!! Our 8 day stay at Garden By The sea was even better than we had hoped, the garden shower was heavenly, the Wild Ginger Room beautiful, and John and Nancy could not have been more delightful or helpful. The delicious breakfasts in the morning had us jumpimg out of bed, and the house felt like our own. At this moment I am wearing my Garden By The Sea bathrobe and dreaming of the pina colada french toast and the Bushwackers at Woodys. - R Blue & S Roch - from: United States Awesome, awesome, awesome. We visistd St. John for a long weekend to celebrate our 1st anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased. Suite/bathroom were perfect (can't imagine anything better) and breakfasts were wonderfull (only needed a snack for lunch). Certainly NOT the impersonal feel that you're sure to get from ANY hotel. Nancy and John were (are ) extremely friendly and were very helpful with suggestions of things to do on the island (we had the outline, they helped provide some details... we really enjoyed the snorkeling in salt pond bay). Judy was waiting at dock side for my ferry having once again supported the local merchants on St Thomas. We have gifts for everyone we know and others should they make a complimentary remark about our winter sun tans. Back home, a few hundred e-mails later, I am ready to take on more incoming. As predicted, the world's Air Force did not shut down in our absence - but better safe. Yesterday and today were 2 coffee pot mornings....computer mouse and fingers were humming, but it felt good to be "caught-up" and well worth the island escape. We were extremely pleased with your no phone, TV, and "this is your get-away" policy ........ You will be happy to know that we have fresh snow on the ground and expecting more tomorrow and again late in the week .......please do not be too jealous! I am going to suggest to Judy we recommend to Laurie, one of our twins, to stop and say hello should she and Taylor spend a day on St John at the end of March. Immaculately clean and Caribbean brightly decorated especially the bathroom with the garden shower, wonderful coffee and hot breakfast.
